About us...
Biomass Energy Yorkshire is owned and managed by Future Energy Yorkshire.

Future Energy Yorkshire (FEY) is a business unit within a wholly owned subsidiary of Yorkshire Forward, the regional development agency for the Yorkshire and Humber region.

FEY has been established to secure the economic opportunities arising from new and renewable energy technologies and projects across the Yorkshire and Humber region and to deliver greenhouse gas emissions reductions to meet regional targets.

FEY's vision is to make the Yorkshire and Humber region the most attractive region for developers of new and renewable energy projects.

What are our aims and objectives?
The aim of Biomass Energy Yorkshire (BEY) is to be a one stop shop for information and advice specific to the biomass supply chain within the Yorkshire and Humber region. The three key objectives of BEY are:

To provide regionally specific advice and information to aid the development of the biomass sector at a regional level
To raise the national profile of the region’s biomass sector
To build upon (not duplicate) and support the advice and information provided by the Biomass Energy Centre

What is our scope?
Information provided on BEY is limited to clean non energy crop wood, energy crops and post-consumer wood. However, we hope to extend the scope of the website to include a greater variety of biomass types in the future.

What is our relationship with the Biomass Energy Centre?
The Biomass Energy Centre (BEC) provides valuable generic information and advice on the biomass sector within the UK as a whole. However, it does not provide regionally specific advice and information as this would be prohibitively time consuming given the resources they have available. Instead the BEC signposts to more specialist organisations and websites. BEY has been designed to provide regionally specific information not provided by the BEC.
